8 More Months of the Campaign

I've already tired of all the stump speeches and we still have eight more months to go. John Kerry makes Bob Dole look like a stand-up comedian. In all honesty I've tired of Bush's campaign style speeches already and if I, a strong Bush supporter, am tired of it then he needs to come up with something different. He's been beating the same drum to the same song too long. It's time to change some things up a bit. Explaining how and why we are winning the war on terror and how and why his economic plan is working needs to be done for the person who is not a political junky. He needs to explain why he should be rehired and why the other guy would be a bad idea.

"...John Kerry makes Bob Dole look like a stand-up comedian...." (TROGERS)

Even as a liberal Dem, I agree with you that John Kerry is a big bore. But you're wrong about Bob Dole, I think. My understanding is that he was considered one of the funniest senators ever. For example I grabbed this quote from an interview with one of his ex-staffers, Scott Morgan. He's responding to the interviewers request to tell one of Bob Dole's jokes:

"It's sort of hard to come up with a specific joke or something because [Bob Dole is] always funny. It's not the words that make it funny, it's the delivery. He knows how to work off crowds. I think mainly it's the sign of a quick, bright mind that can read people when he [is] talking to them....I think he does certainly use the humor sometimes to deflect the attention from him directly, to deflect praise from him...But when he's talking to a crowd he's just being funny."

But Sen. Dole didn't let the public in on his sense of humor until he was on Letterman a few days after getting defeated in 1996.
