Rookie League Champions

Mets.JPG

The picture above is after just winning the Carmel Mountain Ranch Little League Championship tonight. The Mets beat the mighty Padres 25-23 (yes this is baseball not football). What makes me most proud is the incredible improvement of so many of the players. It was fun to watch kids who'd never played before play a key role on the team. It was also a team where a lot of us parents were able to help out Coach Steve. There were too many assistant coaches that some of us couldn't be in the dugout during the game.

Great job Mets!

Michael Josephson has a great email newsletter on ethics in kids' sports. There's some discussion of pro sports, but it's more of simply an entryway into how we should deal with our children's sports. His weekly email on ethics generally is also fantastic. If you're not familiar with his work with ethics in schools or his ethical decisionmaking, take some time to dig around his websites. He does a syndicated daily radio spot (on KFI out of Los Angeles) on ethics.
