ESPN.com - NHRA - NHRA driver Russell dies after car breaks up
This hurts. I really enjoy auto racing but when this happens I always question why I watch this sport. I always tell my kids that they can do just about anything in racing except to drive. My prayers go out to the family and friends of Darrell Russell.
Posted by Tim at June 27, 2004 10:12 PMi am devastated. i had a bad dream sun. nite. when announced i turned off tv and tried to sleep. i did not want to see anymore. i had a bad feeling when the safety man ran up to the car and started waving for someone to get here. darrell used to race at hallsville raceway in his tad (close to longview,texas). we talked to him every year. he never was too busy to stop and talk racing. he loved his fans. we will talk again someday. rest in peace young man and GODSPEED.
