Podhoretz on Bush's Complacency

New York Post Online Edition: Bush's Biggest Flaw

One way or another, even if Bush had put away Kerry in the opening debate, I believe the race would have tightened up. That's in part due to the profound divisions in the body politic. It's also due to Kerry's own competitive strengths. But mostly, I think, it's because of Bush's most damaging political weakness: His capacity for complacency.

I couldn't agree more. Bush gets cocky and over confident. Even though I'd love to go to a Bush or Cheney rally before the election, I'd better not see them here. I want them in Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Colorado and the rest of the battleground states. They can come to California after they win.

Dick Morris was on Medved today, saying that things are trending toward a Kerry win, as Democrats tend to gain in the last few days.
