An Opportunity For Healing

I honestly believe that John Kerry should meet with the Swift Vets. They need to hash out some issues, make some apologies and agree to disagree. Kerry would be able to do this in a way that wasn't seen as political and it could help symbolize some healing from the Vietnam war.

I agree with what I think is your underlying concept---that veterans still angry with the statements Kerry made in 1971 should find a way to meet with him. I'm sure Kerry meets with vet groups all the time, since he's a professional politician. I'm sure these individual vet groups go over and over with him what was said then. I think we all know if we want to talk with our congressman, we can with a little persistence and a trip to Washington or the home office in the state or congressional district.

But the SwiftVets.org is a campaign device. A 501c mudball. I might tell you that similarly George Bush should meet with MoveOn to get through their differences and start the healing from a brutal election. Better yet, the President and Michael Moore could have a beer together, and hammer out their conflict on Bush family ties to the Saudi Royal Family.
