Public Behavior - Smoking and Perfume

On Thanksgiving, the family went to Knott's Berry Farm here in SoCal. Why or why do people have to smoke at an amusement park? Why is it even permitted in the park? Even in front of signs that said "No Smoking", people were smoking. It makes me want to turn into one of those ban smoking across the country types. My whole family, including younger children, having to walk through the clouds of smoke is just wrong.

Then, last night, we went out to eat. As we were walking to the restaraunt a young lady walked by who must have poured the whole bottle of perfume on herself. Some of us have instant reactions to perfume and I am one of them. I ended up sneezing for the next half hour or so. A tip to perfume wearers, one squirt in the air, close your eyes, and walk into it. If I can catch your perfume from 10 feet away then you've got way too much on.

People, let's be considerate of others who have allergy's. Be careful because you can be making someone else miserable.

The American Philosophical Association has banned perfume at their meetings. The hotels they meet in all ban smoking except in certain locations anyway, but they seem to take a consistent view on both. I was shocked when I saw it, but I assume a small group within the organization pushed for it and being good liberals they decided such a minority group needed to have their concern reflected in policy.

The more smokers abuse their "right" to smoke and use bad judgement in doing so, the more society will respond with Draconian rules.

Why do we need an increasing amount of cameras on our roadways? Because we refuse to dialog about and reverse the trend of aggressive driving.

Why can't we have a beer on most SD beaches? Because society refused to identify and punish the people who BEHAVED BADLY in part because of drinking. Everyone who has a beer doesn't turn into an idiot. It was easier to make a new law and punish everyone.

I'm a little cranky because I'm suffering from a sinus infection that I believe was brought on by being "smoked on" over the weekend.
