Loving Homosexuals as Jesus Would

Tip to KMC.

Ryan Zempel has posted a column in townhall.com about how Christians should treat homosexuals. It's part of a review of a book by Chad Thompson called Loving Homosexuals as Jesus Would. I know I touched on this subject in this book review. Spread the love my brothers and sisters, unconditionally.

Although I found your blog based on a comment you posted to La Shawn Barber's post on "Redfining the Civil Rights Battle", I looked up and noticed this link on your site and read the review about the book and have decided to purchase it.

As a Christian, I have struggled with how to handle this topic but in furthering my study of the scriptures, I have also realized and been reminded the more I read "there is none righteous, no not one" and that the only way for salvation is to be born again thru Jesus Christ.

I am looking forwarded to reading Chad's testamony.

We all should know how Jesus would have handled it. He would have said, "Go and sin no more". Not out of hate but, out of love. He would not have condoned it. Rather, he would have offered the free gift, salvation, by saying, "Go and sin no more".

Homosexuality is a sin, like many other sins. It is not the unforgivable sin. We must flee from sin, all of it.

At the same time, our speech should be seasoned with salt, not condescending nor dogmatic, lovingly. I think most of us know the Golden Rule; love thy neighbour, [all of them] as ourself.

It is a hard thing. I'm not sure why. I find it hard myself at times.

Obviously, God knows better than I, so I try to love my neighbour, no matter what they seem to be guilty of. :o)

>>We all should know how Jesus would have handled it. He would have said, "Go and sin no more".<<

I know of only the one instance in which he told someone that: the woman caught in the act of adultery. And, at the time, he was preaching the Law prior to the introduction of Grace. Her only means of salvation was to _never_ sin again.

Not so with anyone after His death and resurrection. To them: Pure and Righteous before God in Heaven. Even homosexuals. Or more amazingly: even judgmental, gossiping Christians.

WWJD? Jesus would have _had dinner_ with a homosexual long before having dinner with me. I am closer to "white-washed tomb."
