Waking Ashland - Telescopes (Album Review)

Waking Ashland is a band from San Diego, California....or maybe Boston...or Los Angeles...shoot. Who knows where they're from. They originated one place, the guitar player is from The east coast, the singer from the west...but the music is from the heart.

Ok, well that was a lame way to start a review. How about I just talk about the music. You may remember me talking about these guys before. It's true, I'm a fan. I think it's important to get the buzz out about them because they are doing something I believe in. And...moving on.

This band already has an EP, a full album, a large number of tours, and international fans under their belt. There's no doubt that people like this band. It's hard not to like them. It's easy to throw in their cd, and listen from start to finish, singing along the entire time. Their new EP "Telescopes" is no different. The songs are more heart-felt than ever, and not to the point of annoying emo lyrics. These are lyrics you can relate to:

slow wins the race, but i'm always rushing/try to escape the monster I've become/some days I try, and others just pass on by/the mountain so high, but I must climb

so please know, that I'm waiting for you/and please be by my side/I'll make a move, if you swear to catch me/I look to the sky -from the song "Tortoise And The Hare"

Lead singer, Jonathan Jones, gives an open look at the journey his heart has taken since writing the last album. It's evident he has been on a roller coaster of feelings and experiences.

Moving from Christian indie label Tooth and Nail to mainstream indie label Immortal Records, Waking Ashland is sure to get more exposure, better tours, and a much larger crowd at shows. Pre-Order their new EP from Immortal Records and get an autographed poster AND the EP will be in your mailbox before the release date. Here's your link:

Trust me, you'll love what you hear. As an owner of this cd, I personally vouch for it's quality of content. I wouldn't pass up a chance to hear this band. www.myspace.com/WAKINGASHLAND is a good place to start if you want to sample some tunes.

keep rocking,
