Voted

Voted YES on recall and Arnold as the replacement. It was great to see such long lines of voters and was especially great voting to RECALL Gray Davis. The man had nothing real positive to say in the election. May his kind never pass this way again.

Predictions

Recall:

YES 55%
NO 45%

Replacement:

Arnold: 40%
Cruz: 35%
McClintock: 10%
Other: 15%

This election will make Florida 2000 look like a breeze. First thing that will happen is Davis will sue for some bogus ACLU type reason. Cruz will sue because they will find that many people who voted NO on the recall will not vote for a replacement governor. I've already heard 2 people at work who understand the ballot to mean that if you vote NO on the recall then you can't vote for a replacement. Mark my words, Davis will be kicking and screaming and will make Sore Loserman seem like gracious losers.

Final Pre-Recall Thoughts

So we're coming down to the final 36 or so hours until the big recall election. I've got some final thoughts for everyone to consider, especially for supporters of Tom McClintock. If there is no way that you'd ever vote for Arnold then, still, please vote for the recall and then vote for McClintock. If there had been a proper primary and Arnold had won, would you then support him? If so, then please don't vote for McClintock and vote for Arnold. This whole recall is something very different and is not what any of us are used too. Consider that Arnold has more than twice the support of McClintock and that he's won the primary. If Arnold wins, McClintock can fight another day. If either Davis or Bustamante is governor then the blame falls squarely on McClintock and his career is just OVER. Look, I'm not happy with Arnold's past and would not have supported him in a primary, but this is different.

This is quite a bit different than the whole Clinton parallel. Clinton was chosed by the Democrats in a primary, even though they knew he was a dirt ball and an unapologetic one at that. They dumped a good man like Paul Tsongas for our future President who just kept up his behavior. Again, there is no primary and Arnold is the clear Republican front runner. Our choice is Davis, Bustamante or Arnold. In 1992 the Democrats had many choices but sold their sould for Bill and Hillary Clinton. Us California conservatives do not have the luxary of making a choice. It's either Arnold, Cruz or Gray. Now is not the time to be a principaled loser. Just look at all the crappy legislation that Gray has signed and figure Cruz would do worse. Also, remember your car tax bill. It really has tripled. I've got proof.

Make your choice count..... don't waste your vote. Let's try and win this one as it can help turn California around to help re-elect President Bush.

Heard Tom on the Radio

I heard Tom McClintock on the radio on the way to a school board meeting. There is no way he's getting out of this race. It's really too bad because his causes will truly suffer. My vision would be for him to quit NOW, help Arnold get elected, be appointed to head up a budget task force, help fix the budget, then run for US Senate. He'd kick the snot out of Boxer if he followed that path.

Newsmax - Letter from Tom

Copied from Newsmax:

When Ronald Reagan first ran for Governor of California, the primary was between Reagan, the conservative, and George Christopher, a well-to-do businessman who was branded the moderate.
Back then, as today, the story line was that a conservative could win a Primary Election in California but never the General Election.

And back then, Reagan was sent an open letter by three Republican legislators who asked him to rise above personal ambition, drop out of the race and get behind Christopher for the good of the Party.

Reagan declined. The rest is history. Ronald Reagan proved then as we can prove today, that a conservative Republican can win a statewide California Election.

Did Reagan stay in because of blind personal ambition? I think not!

I believe Ronald Reagan felt it would be wrong to walk away from his principles and from those who believed as he did in those same principles.

And that is exactly the same reason why I am in this race to the end!

Look Tom, this isn't a primary. This is a much different paradigm. If there were a primary I would have voted for you but there isn't. Get the heck out, now! If there were a primary and you lost to Arnold would you support him? I'm sure you would. This is getting really stupid and we'd better get ready to say "Governor BustaMEChA".

San Diego Likes Tom

According to this very unscientific poll, San Diego favors Tom McClintock. It wouldn't suprise me if my hometown gave this thing to Cruz BustaMEChA.

The Debate

Arnold did quite well and so did McClintock. I didn't see it all but, from what I saw, Arnold and Tom seemed to be on the same team. Now I just hope Tom gets out and runs for US Senate against Barbara Boxer. Bustamante was just wrong on everything but did smack Davis a little bit. Comejo? Arianna?

No wonder Arianna's ex-husband is now on the other team.... what a jerk! She's such a gross opportunist. Just a few years ago she acted like a conservative, now she's a liberal. Whatever.

Issa Is Right

Kodos to PowerLineBlog for the link.

Darrell Issa has said in this Mercury News article that if Bustamante looks like he will win that he will urge a NO vote on the recall. He is quite correct. Bustamante is worse than Davis.

Recall Delayed - Surprised?

I really don't have much to say about the "stay of execution" for the recall. I'm not suprised, but thought it would happen sooner. The fact it comes from a federal court really ticks me off. They did not have any business butting into this situation. Yes, the lefties will talk about Florida, but that was a federal election. There is a difference.

This just shows how important it is for conservatives to get out and make their vote count. Support Republican candidates for Senate as much or more as you support the re-election of President Bush. It is these Senators that make or break President Bush's judicial appointments. Your vote really does matter even at the lowest levels of government.

If the recall is held off then I'm positive Davis will prevail. The Democrats will be out in force in March since they need to vote in their primary. Oh well, time to focus on other things.

Arnold on O'Reilly

I saw the replay of the interview of Arnold by Bill O'Reilly. Arnold was a pleasant suprise. No raising taxes, kill the car tax increase and quite losing jobs. He even admitted he has some things to learn about controlling the borders. Where is my darn sample ballot?

Come on, Tom

I just can't believe that Tom McClintock is staying in this race. Does he really think he can win? I'm sick of people who, when they don't get their way, try to spoil it for others. Pat Buchanon helped do this in 1992 and hasn't stopped yet. Heck, even on the Democrat side, Ralph Nader is the same way.

Once more, McClintock cannot and will not win. Cruz and Gray will keep the car tax and will keep signing all these spending bills that the Dems bring to their desk. Arnold can at least stop the bleeding and get us back on track. The national economy will continue to be sluggish until California recovers.

I'm with Hugh Hewitt, if McClintock doesn't get out by this weekend, then he is just over. I will not ever support him in a primary, give any money to his campaigns and will openly campaign against him.

Cruz and MEChA

Via InstaPundit I was brought to this very informative writing by Pejmanesque. I've only skimmed but it looks like it's worth reading.

For the "Tombots" (courtesy of Hugh Hewitt), do we really want Bustamante in there? Again, it's Gray, Cruz or Arnold.

Arnold States Some Positions

This is some excerpts of Arnold's views when Arnold spoke with Sean Hannity. By Erica Werner ASSOCIATED PRESS.

He said he's in favor of legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes and protecting a woman's right to abortion, but against gay marriage and granting drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.

I'm not sure about MJ for medicinal purposes. If someone feels relief after chemo by smoking a joint I can't judge that. Abortion, no surprise. No gay marriage and no licenses for illegals sound good. He's already better than Davis or Bustamante.

Schwarzenegger described himself to Hannity as "pro-choice" but said he did not support late-stage procedures described as "partial-birth" abortions.

Partial-birth abortions is the first battleground. Let's win that one before going after anything else. This is good.

Asked whether he is in favor of parental notification when minors seek abortions, he replied, "I am. But in some cases when there is abuse in the family or problems in the family, then the courts should decide."

Uh, whatever.

Asked about gay marriage, Schwarzenegger said, "I do support domestic partnerships" but added that he was against gay marriage. He said marriage should be between a man and a woman.

He needs to define what he means by domestic partnerships but he's correct on marriage. Again, better than Davis or Bustamante.

Schwarzenegger told Hannity he would not raise taxes unless there was a state emergency.

Never raise taxes but still better than the alternative.

I'm surprised at some of his answers and I'd rather have some conservative than no conservative.

More On Arnold - Brief Opinion

I just want to reiterate, I don't believe Arnold is the perfect candidate, much of a conservative and is definitely not even close to Ronald Reagan. I do believe he's got some decent beliefs on taxes and spending, and for now, that will have to do for me.

Recall - YES
Vote for the Terminator

Bustamante Leads In Latest Poll

The LA Times is reporting that Bustamante leads Arnold by 35% to 22%. Other Republicans garnered 12%, 7% and 6%. Hmmmm! Add all those up and the Republican candidates win. A hint, follow Simon out the door. Now is the time to unite. This type of opportunity doesn't come around much and we need to take advantage. Winning with a moderate is better than losing to a liberal. Again, the choice is Davis, Bustamante or Arnold.

My thought.... I believe there are many Christian conservatives who believe it is a sin to vote for a pro-choice candidate. I've been there and understand. However I do not agree that it's a sin. Realistically you've been given 3 choices: Davis, Bustamante or Arnold. Any other vote is really a vote for Bustamante who is much further to the left than Arnold. Arnold believes we are taxes too much; Bustamante proposes raising them. The result of this is more jobs leave California, pure and simple. I understand the principled vote of McClintock but having absolutely no power instead of having some is not an option I like. It will take years to undo the mess that's been created and with Arnold we at least get a foot in the door.

Bill Simon - Out

I'm glad Bill Simon has exited the campaign for governor. It shows character. His explanation of how continuing the Davis legacy with Bustamante is the main reason for getting out makes perfect sense. Has he been reading this blog? :) Maybe he'll run for Senate.

Arnold is not Reagan? DUH!

OK, I'm getting tired of all the comparison's of Arnold to the great Ronald Reagan. Look, it's either Davis, Bustamante or the Terminator. Of those 3, I choose Arnold. Of course, he's not Reagan and it's not even close. Of course, Arnold is not Davis or Bustamante so that's good enough for me. Now, if Arnold were to win and take Warren Buffett's advide about taxes then his butt would be recalled, also.

Davis to sign domestic partership bill

Just say "no" to Davis and Bustamante. This is outrageous. From a moral perspective it's horrid but also is another way to distribute more government money, just check out the second to last paragraph.

Bustamante Leads Arnold

According to this poll Cruz Bustamante leads Arnold 25% to 22% with McClintock at 9% and Bill Simon at 8%. So, if this trend continues we'll just be replacing one liberal Democrat with another. At least Arnold has some conservative tendencies. Again, it's Gray-Out, Cruz or Arnold. Any other vote is a throw away.

Hugh Hewitt Has It Right

"I support the most conservative candidate with a realistic chance of winning." - Hugh Hewitt

There are only 3 people who have a realistic chance of being governor after October 7. Those people are Gray Davis, Cruz Bustamante and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Any other vote is a throw away unless things change dramatically in the next few weeks. Of course, that Green Party candidate has a real shot (that's for my left of center friends).

Come On Conservatives, Don't Throw Away Your Vote

I can already tell that many conservatives are preparing to throw away their votes. Here's the worst scenario: the YES on recall of Davis succeeds. Many "principled" conservatives are going to vote for Simon or McClintock in the second vote. Cruz Bustamante ends up winning a squeaker over Arnold as Simon pulls 7% and McClintock pulls 6%. Here it is in plain English, A VOTE FOR SIMON OR MCCLINTOCK OR SOME OTHER PRINCIPLED CANDIDATE IS A VOTE FOR CRUZ BUSTAMANTE AND THE STATUS QUO. Yes, Arnold has some liberal views but at the end of the day will be in far more agreement with you than Davis or Bustamante will be.

If a conservative candidate does rise up and is a serious contender then vote for them, as will I, but don't waste your vote on somebody who can't win.

Join Arnold

The new web site for Arnold's campaign is http://www.joinarnold.com. Again, I'm joining Hugh Hewitt as a single issue voter and voting for Arnold. If there was a Republican primary I'd vote for someone else but there are different rules and different thinking needs to take place. Come on center/right conservatives. Let's get behind Arnold and rid ourselves of Gray Davis and keep Cruz Bustamante out.

Worse Than Gray Davis

If it looks like Cruz Bustamante would win the secondary vote then I will vote NOT to recall Gray Davis. In watching Bustamante on various shows I think he would be an even worse candidate than Davis. The more Democrats that get into the election the better chance Cruz would lose. Come on Loretta Sanchez, get in there and mess it up for Bustamante.

In terms of who I support I may vote single issue, like Hugh Hewitt, and that single issue is winning. Whichever Republican has the best chance of winning will get my vote.

I really wish Bill Simon would reconsider and not run. He had his chance and blew it. Now, he just muddies the water.

Issa Out

Good move by Darrell Issa to get out of the election. He's still going to push for the recall. Hopefully he'll run for Senate. Somebody has to take on Senator Boxer. I'll probably support Tom McClintock to replace Davis but I just hope he doesn't run his absolutely stupid Irish leprechan (sp?) commercials like he did last year.

Darrell Issa - Didn't Learn The Lesson

Just a few days before the 2000 Presidential Election it was discovered that George W. Bush had been arrested and pleaded either no contest or guilty to a DWI charge. Now Darrell Issa (the guy I support for governor) has something ugly come out of the closet. Darrell, WHAT WERE YOU DOING NOT BEING UP FRONT? AN ARREST WAS GOING TO COME OUT. EVEN IF YOU ARE INNOCENT YOU LOOK GUILTY. One of the things that Americans (and even Californians) will do is give you a bigger break if you are honest and up front. George W. Bush would have won in a landslide in 2000. All the polls indicated this, especially the Zogby pole who took his poll after the weekend of the DUI revelation. Bush went from a landslide to Zogby having Gore ahead 48-46.

CaliforniaRepublic.org

For any of you long suffering residents of the People's Republic of California here's some fresh air. Chuck from Huntington Beach pointed this one out. They also have the latest tally on the Governor Davis recall (almost 725K have signed, have you?).

This does bring up the topic of who'd be the next governor or why would Republicans even want that mess. I can tell you why he needs to go now, things will only get worse. As a Californian that is just not acceptable. Businesses will leave and I don't want to have to move from San Diego to get work.

Let's say Terminator wins, at least he can slow down this mess. Heck, I'd even take DiFi. At least she has a spine. My preferred candidate is Issa but if Arnold enters, he wins. Now who the heck is going to run against Barbara Boxer? Anyone?
