Words of Wisdom - Return on Investment

I was out hacking away in the waves yesterday with a very wise man. I was really struggling in paddling out and was pooped out pretty quick. My friend mentioned the term "return on investment". He said that all this pain was an investment and made the point that there is a return on investment to consider.

I've always been one to not look at the long-term ROI very deeply but the point is well considered. Many of my generatation and younger aren't into ROI. We want everything and we want it now. If we don't get it now we can't handle it. I see this in Little League as some kids start dropping tears as soon as they make an out.

St. Louis vs. San Diego

In San Diego (and probably the rest of California) you will not find a book of matches in a restaurant. Waiting in the bar area before eating at Mike Shannon's Steaks and Seafoods, I was shocked to find and ashetray and the above matchbook. Just an observation. BTW, it's real cold at night. We did walk by Busch Stadium and got to see the great statues in front. This city loves its' baseball.
