Jeane Kirkpatrick Dies

My Way News - Jeane Kirkpatrick, Ex-Ambassador, Dies

Jeane J. Kirkpatrick, an unabashed apostle of Reagan era conservatism and the first woman U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has died.

One of the great leaders in our victory over the Soviet Union was Jeane Kirkpatrick. She died yesterday. Our nation owes her our thanks. The Cold War was won by people like Ambassador Kirkpatrick.

Patti Davis - Root of Hatred

Newsweek - Roots of Hatred - Patti Davis, daughter of the late, great Ronald Reagan, has written a very good article about her feelings toward Edgar Ray Killen, recently convicted of manslaughter of 3 civil rights workers in 1964. She captures how sometimes are first reactions towards something are not right. Her first thought towards Killen was hate, then she re-thought that reaction. Excellent advice.

Final Goodbye

"The Great Liberator" - Baroness Margaret Thatcher in describing Ronald Reagan

I didn't have a chance to watch the services this morning but am watching on C-SPAN now. I did watch the service at the library and it was real tough to watch. For a family to have their grief and heartache on public display must be so hard. Still, my wife and I both got a chuckle when we saw Chachi (Scott Baio) near the end of the service. What the heck?

I just wish that the cameras would have not had so many closeups of family members, especially Nancy Reagan. Yes, it's public, but there need to be a space not to violate.

Oh no, Bush 41 is about to speak. I've already heard so much of his touching tribute. It reminds me of Bob Dole's tribute to Richard Nixon. True gentlemen with big hearts.

Major props to our military who were on the spot a lot this last week. Those carriers of the casket going up and down the stairs were amazing. Great job men.

Michael Reagan's tribute was so touching as he shared from his heart about the faith of his father and how he passed it down. Michael really nailed it about what is important.

Ronald Reagan will always be my president.

Thoughts on Reagan

As my wife and I have watched all the great video of many great Reagan moments so much comes back to us. Mainly, Reagan is truly like a father figure to both of us. Even though we weren't even aware of each other during the Reagan presidency he left an incredible mark on us. He's truly the man that taught us about foreign policy (peace through strength) and economics (reduce taxes). Reagan is our political father. I know that my children will not be taught much about Reagan in school so we shall gladly take that task up ourselves.

One thing that is driving me crazy are these people who were so vile towards Reagan are now talking glowingly about him. Just shut up instead and wish his family well in their grief. They need to play the game because of the love so many of the American people have for Reagan. They never separated the man from the policies back then but are doing it now.

I do see (and have seen) many parallels between Reagan and Bush 43. It does seem Bush is a better manager but Reagan had that amazing gift of communication. They both have firm convictions and big visions but were hated for them by the elite. The elite prefers nuance and "tolerance". They don't like people who have firm beliefs in good and evil. Too bad for them. Someday, they will eat crow about Bush's war on terror just like they have about Reagan and his cold war policies. Reagan wanted to see the breakup of the Soviet Union while Bush wants to see the creation of democracies and freedom in places that currently foster terrorism. It's a vision thing, folks. Reagan and Bush 43 have it, most others don't.

I know I do sound a bit snippy but some of these people in the media just turn my stomach with their phoniness.

Ronald Reagan on the Dime?

According to this Newsmax article Nancy Reagan is opposed to replacing FDR with Ronald Reagan on the dime. I believe Ronald Reagan was a wonderfule president and should be honored by being put on some mode of currency but replacing FDR just isn't the right choice. FDR lead us through World War II. Enough said. Find someone else more replaceable. Why did these congressman go after FDR?
