Chirac Loses To Blair, Again

Paris's defeat by London in the race to host the 2012 Olympic Games was a bitter blow for French President Jacques Chirac that was all the more painful because he lost out again to his rival Tony Blair.

This just brings a smile to my face.

The ONE Campaign

It's a plea for our government to spend 1% of our budget of fighting world poverty. It's not something that will probably ever happen but at least it brings attention to the need.

UPDATE: It does seem it would be better if citizens, churches, synagogues, charities and private foundations could make the 1% commitment. As commentor Tom says, going into further debt as a country doesn't really seem reasonable.

Kristof in Cambodia - Free Trade

Op-Ed Columnist: Inviting All Democrats

A great article as it confirms what a lot of people have been saying for years. We cannot impose our unionized labor standards on countries where people just want to work. I've smacked Kristof a few times in this blog but he deserves kudos on this one.

Bush Policy Speech On Democratization of Middle East

I really enjoy the optimistic approach President Bush is turning to for his vision for the Middle Eeat. Power Line Blog has some great highlights of the speech. Everything else has failed, now it's time to take an approach that would go a long way towards stabilizing the Middle East and isolating the terrorism to just the real hardcore believers that won't find safe haven in a free Middle East.

Guess He Didn't Want To Be "Regime Changed"

It's good news that Charles Taylor is taking asylum in Nigeria. I guess he understands that President Bush means business. Let's see what happens in Liberia now and pray it gets better.
