Obama Ends War on Terror

January 23rd, 2009 · 1 Comment

Analysis: Abrupt end to ‘war on terror’ – Washington Post- msnbc.com.

I’m busy picking up my lower jaw from the floor after reading this.  I’m all for ending torture but to unilaterally go so extreme the other way is not a good way to protect this country.  It looks like the bad guys just got some advantage back and it looks like our defenses are down.  President Obama is making a very radical choice and has clearly given the terrorists an advantage.  I guess there really isn’t any room for Jack Bauer anymore.

I honestly do not understand his reasoning behind preemptively removing the very tools that have kept us safe these past years. Terrorists will propagandize these decisions as victories in their fight against all that do not subscribe to their beliefs.

If you think about it, how are they wrong in their belief this IS a victory? I mean, come on, issuing an order to close Gitmo before determining where the hardcore 60 some odd terrorists will even go? Very disappointing.

Not a huge Bush fan here. But give credit where it’s due. He did what had to be done to give the Jack Bauers of the world the tools to keep us safe. We can only hope our new President reflects on the intelligence that he is receiving and remembers that it is his solemn duty to serve and protect our citizens, not some flawed political theory or dated agenda.
