Rush Limbaugh's Way of Celebrating Earth Day

From yesterday's "Rush in a Hurry":

How to Celebrate Earth Day: "Drive. Drive! Drive five miles above the speed limit when you're on the highway. Go out and buy, buy, buy! Use extra toilet paper. Clog up the toilet if you have to with extra paper. Use, use, use. Turn on every light in the house, every light in the office, and leave it on when you leave -- and if you see anybody driving a stupid hybrid around, just buzz 'em with your horn and wave at 'em as you speed by. Just ram it down their throats, ladies and gentlemen."

This is a very sad statement from Rush Limbaugh. I don't hold to Al Gore's version of an immediate environmental crisis but believe we need to take care of the gift of the environment that God gave us. This is very irresponsible and all you ditto-heads need to hold Rush accountable.

Kanye West Pollutes The Police

The Police, Kanye West rock Live Earth - Live Earth concert - MSNBC.com

The Police, led by frontman Sting — who along with his wife, Trudie Styler, has been active on environmental issues for years - was the last act to perform in the global concert series. They were joined on stage by John Mayer and Kanye West for a version of "Message in a Bottle."

I caught the Kanye West action during The Police set. To put it bluntly, he really sucks. There needs to be more to music than "uh" and "c'mon, c'mon". Any "raps" that Mr. West had were off tone and a distraction. The Police are one of the greatest bands of all-time and for their desire to seem edgy they really flunked out there. Now everybody "just throw your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care."

Live Earth Hypocrisy

Live Aid is promoting green to save the planet - what planet are they on? | the Daily Mail

Watching the veteran star lap up the adoration, her entourage could, however, be forgiven for exchanging slightly jaded glances - having witnessed her jet in for the concert from New York.

For her 2006 World Tour, she flew by private jet, transporting a team of up to 100 technicians and dancers around the globe. Waiting in the garage at home, she has a Mercedes Maybach, two Range Rovers, an Audi A8 and a Mini Cooper S.

Indeed, Madonna's carbon footprint is dwarfed only by her ego - she has vowed that she will 'speak to the planet' at Wembley. In fact, an apology might be in order - for the superstar's energy consumption is only the tip of the iceberg in this epic vanity-fest.

Of course Madonna will now lecture the world on how we should all live. Hearing from rock stars who forget what a normal life is (paycheck to paycheck, etc.) a waste of time. This helps them feel good about themselves and now they can go off and do their thing.

Look, we should all do our best to recycle and keep the environment clean, no matter what we believe about global warming. I just don't need to be told by celebrities and politicians that don't do anything for themselves. Real life is hard as most of us don't have maids and nannies doing our dirty work.

Sherly Crow Jumps the Shark

Tip from Drudge.

Saving the Earth: The Biodiesel Bus Blog - washingtonpost.com

Crow (4/19, Springfield, Tenn.): I have spent the better part of this tour trying to come up with easy ways for us all to become a part of the solution to global warming. Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating. One of my favorites is in the area of forest conservation which we heavily rely on for oxygen. I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required.

Oh Ms. Crow. This type of extremism does nothing to help the cause of Global Warming. I'm not even convinced of the totality of the environmental problems we have. I do know that after it rains you shouldn't swim in the ocean due to bacteria. There are a ton of issues to attack including making sure we do a good job of recycling and not littering. Limiting our use of toilet paper isn't quite the tactic to take. Common! 2-3 squares after a big crap? Give me a break. I think Ms. Crow should live with her toilet paper limitations for a couple of months then see what she thinks.

Gore - Do As I Say, Not As I Do

USATODAY.com - Gore isn't quite as green as he's led the world to believe

Graciously, Gore tells consumers how to change their lives to curb their carbon-gobbling ways: Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs, use a clothesline, drive a hybrid, use renewable energy, dramatically cut back on consumption. Better still, responsible global citizens can follow Gore's example, because, as he readily points out in his speeches, he lives a "carbon-neutral lifestyle." But if Al Gore is the world's role model for ecology, the planet is doomed.

Neither side has convinced me about global warming, but Al Gore has so little real credibility. If he really believed we've only got 10 years to make changes then he's not acting like it.

Hat Tip to Drudge.

MSNBC - God's Green Soldiers

God's Green Soldiers - Newsweek Society - MSNBC.com - This is an interesting article dealing with some Evangelicals who are working to clean up the environment. The focus point of this article is Rev. Richard Cizik who's a big-time social conservative. He also believes that there is global warming and other issues that Evangelicals should care about. I'm not convinced either way about global warming but do believe that our faith should compel us to leave God's creation in a good state. Most Evangelicals, including myself, are not very fond of the "environmental wackos" out there who equate man with the rest of the animals but I think we all realize we do have responsibilites. I don't think we should buy into one point of view on the environment without doing our due dilligence. Just because Rush Limbaugh or James Dobson says there isn't global warming or Al Gore says there is doesn't mean jack-squat. I need to do some digging into this issue myself because I don't believe anybody at the moment. I'm trying to keep an open mind on things I really don't understand.

Public Behavior - Smoking and Perfume

On Thanksgiving, the family went to Knott's Berry Farm here in SoCal. Why or why do people have to smoke at an amusement park? Why is it even permitted in the park? Even in front of signs that said "No Smoking", people were smoking. It makes me want to turn into one of those ban smoking across the country types. My whole family, including younger children, having to walk through the clouds of smoke is just wrong.

Then, last night, we went out to eat. As we were walking to the restaraunt a young lady walked by who must have poured the whole bottle of perfume on herself. Some of us have instant reactions to perfume and I am one of them. I ended up sneezing for the next half hour or so. A tip to perfume wearers, one squirt in the air, close your eyes, and walk into it. If I can catch your perfume from 10 feet away then you've got way too much on.

People, let's be considerate of others who have allergy's. Be careful because you can be making someone else miserable.

Finally, The Enviros Lose and We All Win

After too many setbacks driven by the enviros we've gotten something to actually help people. It's not the end all and it's tragic that it took so much damage in the SoCal fires to get this signed. Here's the CNN article on the Healthy Forest Restoration Act.
